FW 09 - The Art of Selling
“Every time you state what you want or believe, you’re the first to hear it. It’s a message to both you and others about what you think is possible.” - Oprah Winfrey
Introduction:
Hey FIERCE Mother,
This week we are discussing the art of selling.
Selling is an essential part of life and any business; mastering the art of selling can significantly impact your success. No matter who you are, you are selling whether you realize it or not. So whether you're a job seeker, a professional wanting a promotion, an entrepreneur, a sales professional, or a business owner, the ability to sell yourself, your products, or services is crucial.
Why is Selling Difficult for Women?
Selling can be intimidating for anyone, but it can be incredibly challenging for women because of various factors, including gender stereotypes and societal expectations.
Appearing Salesy - For many women, selling can be considered aggressive and pushy, often regarded as undesirable. As a result, women may feel uncomfortable promoting themselves or their products, fearing they will be too assertive or unlikeable.
Impostor Syndrome - Women may doubt their abilities and feel they are not qualified to sell their products or services, even when they are highly skilled and knowledgeable.

So, what can we do to overcome our discomfort with selling?
Recognize that selling is a necessary and valuable skill, regardless of gender. Therefore, we should not feel ashamed or embarrassed about promoting our products or services.
Here are a few tips and strategies to help you improve your sales skills.
Know your customer - What does your customer care about? What are their needs and pain points? How will you or your Products/services solve the customer’s need or make their life easier?
Build trust - People buy from people they trust. Therefore, building trust is essential in the selling process. Establishing a relationship with your customers and showing you care about your needs is crucial. Deliver what you promise, as this will help build trust and credibility.
In summary, be bold and brave, and don’t let self-doubt hold you back from selling. Instead, focus on your strengths and remind yourself of your positive qualities whenever you feel self-doubt creeping in.
